In print advertising, Chevrolet dubbed the 1969 Chevelle “The Class Bully.” A class bully at first brings to mind a person who bullies others in school, but Chevrolet's assertion was more of the fact that the car was the bully of the class of car it was in. Chevrolet felt that there was no competition for the Chevelle and the things it offered like options and styling. This Chevelle in particular could be considered to have a bit of a tough look, thanks to gloss black paint over a black interior, and chrome aftermarket wheels. It is ready to rock, with other highlights being a 396ci V8 mated to a Muncie 4-speed transmission, a plethora of extra parts, and records. The car you see here is a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle 396 finished in black over a black interior and showing approximately 33,895 miles on the mechanical odometer.

The color options offered on the 1969 model year Malibu/Chevelle cars all looked great on the coke-bottle shaped body. Gloss Black is a color you can't go wrong with, especially with a vehicle like a Chevelle that has a fair amount of chrome or silver trim on the exterior. The black paint was part of the area worked on during the restoration of the car, a majority of which took place in 2014. As you can see in the photos, the paint does currently show some fine scratches and swirls, however, it has a rich gloss. And we don't see any obvious overspray. Lights and trim all around the car are in very nice condition, with chrome polishing up nicely, and a few boxes of extra trim pieces included with the car. The Keystone Klassic wheels absolutely fit the styling of the Chevelle, and are period correct for this car. They provide great contrast to the gloss black paint, and wrapped in GoodYear Eagle white letter tires, are a page right out of the late '60's parts and styling catalog.

Open the driver's door and you are greeted with a bench seat, and an aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel. Auxiliary gauges provide information in the form of a tachometer, coolant temp, oil pressure, and a voltmeter. The interior trim, door panels, dashboard, and carpeting are in very nice condition.

Under the hood is a 396ci V8 mated to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The engine bay is tidy and features chrome valve covers, and a chrome air cleaner sitting atop an Edelbrock 4BBL carburetor. The engine has been bored 30 over, and features HPC coated pistons, Lunati cam, Lunati lifters, oval port heads, forged steel crankshaft, and stainless valves to name a few engine details. Documentation shows that the build of this car was well thought out and documented.

This “Class Bully” is ready to put a smile on your face. Show the other muscle cars around what this car has going for it. Not only is it a classic Chevelle which seems to be a postercar for the muscle car era, but it's nicely restored, and features a 396 V8 mated to a 4 speed manual transmission.
