Overview
1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS -
302ci V8 w/4Speed Manual - 290 Horsepower - Houndstooth Custom Interior - Impeccable Restoration - Dover White
Alright, we see you over there looking at this car. Pick your jaw up off the floor! We agree, there is just something attractive about a White first generation Z/28. The factory lines really come out when the body is covered in such a light color. The color white is historically associated with purity, innocence, and new beginnings. Not exactly the type of words you think to use to describe a Camaro Z/28. Author Stephen King felt that “the color white is the absence of memory.” Speaking of memory, now that you've seen it, this car will surely occupy a little space in your complex memory bank.
Thanks to a careful restoration, in which the car was disassembled to the point of being a roller, this beautiful Z/28 is finished in the factory correct color of Dover White (code 50). At first glance it is immediately obvious that hours and hours were spent on the exterior finish. The paint is glossy and even throughout, and panel fitment is spot on. This special Z/28 also wears the 'RS' (Z22) package which consists of hide away headlights, wheel arch moldings, rain gutter moldings, chrome trimmed tail lights, stimulated fender louvers, and reverse lights mounted below the rear bumper. The contrasting black stripes are painted on the body leaving a smooth, even finish from front to back. Rally sport wheels with beauty rings have been refinished and wrapped in GoodYear Tires.
Rather than a contrasting interior color, this vintage Camaro has been finished in black with houndstooth seat inserts. Like the exterior, the inside of this car has been impeccably finished. All the desirable details are there including the console gauge package, factory tach, wood veneer shifter surround, bucket seats, and Delco radio. The obligatory Hurst shifter topped with a polished shift knob helps in gear selection. Although the center armrest with cupholders shown in our photos would be handy if you're taking a cruise for coffee, it is removable without tools in seconds if you're going for a 100% original look.
Under the hood is a 'DZ' coded 302ci V8 mated to a Muncie M21 4 speed manual transmission. Power brakes on all four corners of the car were standard on Z/28's with power discs in the front giving that little bit of an edge in stopping power. A chambered exhaust is the only performance part that has been added to the powerplant. The underside of the car is extremely clean, and is just another part of the car that reflects the care taken when completing the restoration of this awesome vintage Camaro.
